What happens in Vegas...

I've gotten used to the perplexed stares that I receive when I tell people that I grew up in Las Vegas. The response is very predictable when I announce this... usually something like.."You grew up in Vegas?" "What was that like?" To which I always respond by explaining that it was a lot more normal that you'd think. And I usually add that no..I didn't live in a hotel, my mom wasn't a showgirl and nope sorry..my dad is not a professional gambler.

And now..well my Vegas trips are especially un-Vegas like. They involve soaking up time with the family instead of shaking it at some hip club. (believe me...I've done plenty of that in my day and I still quite enjoy it now and again) They involve family game nights or trips to the park with my nephew instead of fighting the crowds on the strip. And you know what..I wouldn't have it any other way.

I gladly trade in sparkly stilettos that traipse upon cheesy casino carpet for bare feet in lush park grass.

There is swinging and sliding with my precious nephew instead of lounging poolside at some swanky hotel.

There was meeting my friend's nine pounds of pure love. So cool to watch a friend who is much more like a sister make the transformation into a mom. SO. COOL. And getting to cuddle with soft, new baby skin..well that is definitely the icing on the cake.

There is Lunching with my mama. Okay, we did venture to the strip..I HAD to try the frozen hot chocolate at Serendipity. And by the way..it is heaven in a very cute glass and deserves all of the accolades it has received and then some. I've been dreaming of it since.

And okay...there was a little Vegas indulgence..A girl's night out with my mom, sister-in-law and Aunt to see Celine Dion. Which by the way... her new show is incredible! Jim is SO sad that he missed this. ;)

And did I mention that there was lots of soaking up every last ounce of fun and love from this guy?

My sweet nephew Carter who just oozes happiness and love...

So yes..my version of Vegas..much different than most..but I wouldn't change a thing.
